Two Trot Artists Recognized for Spreading K-Trot Across Asia

Trot singers Shin Seong and Yang Ji-eun are set to receive prestigious awards at the upcoming Asia Model Awards, recognizing their contributions to popularizing K-trot throughout the Asian continent.

Award Recognition at the 20th Asia Model Awards

The two artists will be honored at the 20th Asia Model Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on the 30th at High1 Resort in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province. Shin Seong will receive the Asia Popularity Award in the trot category, while Yang Ji-eun will be presented with a special award. These accolades acknowledge their efforts in promoting K-trot beyond Korea's borders and throughout Asia.

Shin Seong's Career Journey

Shin Seong has established himself as a skilled performer since his debut in 2014 with the album "Love's Gold Medal." The 40-year-old artist, standing at 185cm tall and weighing 75kg, has been leading a generational shift in the trot industry with his commanding presence and stable vocal abilities. His consistent performances have solidified his position as a reliable force in the genre.

Yang Ji-eun's Unique Musical Background

Yang Ji-eun gained public recognition through the 2021 competition show "Miss Trot 2." Originally from Jeju Island, she brings a distinctive background to her music as a successor to the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Heungboga and serves as the Seogwipo branch director of the Korean Pansori Preservation Association. As the youngest branch director nationwide, Yang has successfully created her own unique style by blending the profound emotions of traditional pansori with the accessible sensibilities of modern trot music.

Celebrating 20 Years of the Asia Model Awards

The Asia Model Awards, now in its 20th year, stands as one of Asia's largest entertainment festivals. The ceremony honors artists, models, actors, and singers from across the Asian region who contribute to the spread of Hallyu culture. This year's event will feature numerous stars including Yoon Si-yoon, Yoon Hyun-min, Kim Min-jong, Ye Ji-won, and Poppin Hyun-joon, demonstrating the awards' significant influence throughout Asia.
