The Reality Behind Mukbang Fame

Popular mukbang content creator Tzuyang recently shared candid insights about the challenges that come with her career as a competitive eater. Her revelations came during the November 29 episode of MBC's variety program The Manager, which offered viewers a glimpse into her daily routine.

A Day in Tzuyang's Life

The episode showcased Tzuyang preparing homemade fermented kimchi before diving into an impressive meal. Her food intake for that session included:

  • 6 kg of boiled pork
  • 2 kg of oysters
  • 1.8 kg of canned ham
  • Four large roasted sweet potatoes for dessert

The entire spread totaled approximately 6,100 calories, demonstrating the extreme eating requirements of her profession.

The Cost of Constant Hunger

When host Jun Hyun Moo mentioned that ITZY member Chaeryeong had previously expressed a desire to live like Tzuyang in another life, the mukbang star offered an honest and sobering response. She explained that her extreme eating schedule has significantly impacted both her health and personal life.

According to Tzuyang, she spends approximately 18 out of 24 hours each day eating, leaving virtually no time for hobbies or other interests. She described living in a constant state of hunger, as her body has adapted to consuming massive quantities of food. This perpetual appetite means food dominates her thoughts throughout the day.

Limited Time for Personal Growth

The content creator expressed admiration for individuals who have time to develop skills like dancing or singing, acknowledging that her demanding eating schedule prevents her from pursuing similar interests. Her only concurrent activity while eating is reading webtoons, as it's one of the few things she can do simultaneously.

In a revealing statement, Tzuyang admitted that contrary to what many might assume, she actually wishes she were a small eater. She explained that this would allow her to find fulfillment and happiness in activities beyond food consumption, highlighting the irony of her situation as someone who makes a living from eating large quantities.
