Han Hye-jin Opens Up About Life in England and Her Daughter Taking After Her

Han Hye-jin Reflects on Family Life and Marriage

Model and TV personality Han Hye-jin shared candid stories about her past life in England and her 11-year-old daughter during her recent appearance on KBS2's variety show 'Baedal Watsuda' on November 26th.

Unexpected Life in the English Countryside

When asked about following her husband, soccer player Ki Sung-yueng, to England, Han Hye-jin recalled her initial shock with humor. She admitted she made the decision without fully understanding what it would entail, thinking they would be living in London. Instead, she found herself in a small seaside village with nothing but ocean around them.

The adjustment proved challenging, as there wasn't even a Korean grocery store nearby. Han confessed that she couldn't cook well and struggled to figure out how to support her husband properly. She humorously recounted making tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) for him after he returned from intense training, which left him bewildered by the choice of such heavy food.

Self-Development During Overseas Stay

Rather than letting the isolation get to her, Han Hye-jin turned the experience into an opportunity for growth. After spending her days exploring local markets, she enrolled in an English language program for six months. She was the only Korean student in a class primarily filled with Arab students, making communication initially difficult. She even shared a funny anecdote about someone questioning her when she said she resembled Arab people.

Secret to a Happy Marriage

Discussing her relationship with Ki Sung-yueng, Han revealed that their marriage works well because her husband doesn't place demands on her. She explained that he focuses on his work like a racehorse and never nags, though she admits to doing some nagging herself. His typical response is simply "Okay, do as you want."

She also highlighted his romantic gestures, sharing that he always sends meal trucks to her drama and theater performances. He even attended one of her plays five times, prompting her to tell him it was enough. He also faithfully watches all her dramas, though jokingly avoids watching other dramas in case their ratings are higher.

Daughter Growing to Resemble Her Mother

Han Hye-jin spoke about her 11-year-old daughter, noting that while she initially resembled her father, she's now starting to take after her mother more. The daughter used to boast about her father to friends, especially since many of them are interested in soccer. She would dismiss requests for her mother's autograph as unnecessary. However, since Han began hosting an educational variety show, her daughter's friends have started requesting her autograph as well, leading Han to joke that she needs to keep doing variety shows to maintain her daughter's approval.
