Choo Sung Hoon Playfully Envies Jang Keun Suk's Lifetime Free Ramen Black Card
MMA Legend Shows Friendly Jealousy Over Japanese Ramen Shop's VIP Card
Former MMA fighter and entertainer Choo Sung Hoon expressed lighthearted envy after learning about actor Jang Keun Suk's special "black card" that grants lifetime free ramen at a Japanese restaurant.
Exploring Japan's Top Ramen Destinations
On October 30th, Choo Sung Hoon's YouTube channel uploaded a video titled "Essential Viewing Before Going to Japan for Ramen (ft. Tokyo, Kobe, Sapporo Ramen Restaurants)." The content featured the star exploring Japan's three major ramen varieties.
During his culinary tour, Choo visited the upscale Azabu-Juban district in Tokyo, known for its renowned restaurant scene. He introduced viewers to a ramen shop he had been frequenting since his high school days in Osaka, which recently opened a Tokyo location.
The Coveted Black Card Revelation
"I'm specifically recommending this place because they make their broth with chicken bones, so it's clean and refreshing like gomtang," Choo explained while showcasing the restaurant's offerings. He provided detailed descriptions of the noodle textures and broths available across different regional styles.
When a staff member mentioned the shop's "black card" program, Choo immediately responded, "Oh, does Keun Suk have that card?" The employee confirmed that the black card functions similarly to a VIP card, offering lifetime free ramen to select recipients.
Thirty Years of Loyalty Goes Unrewarded
Upon learning about the lifetime complimentary benefit, Choo's staff members were astonished, asking how one could qualify for such a privilege. The entertainer didn't hesitate to make his case to the restaurant employee: "I want to receive one too. I think I'm just as worthy as Keun Suk."
Choo emphasized his long-standing patronage, stating, "I absolutely should receive one. I've been a regular customer for over 30 years." However, the staff revealed that the establishment is still deliberating on the criteria for black card issuance.
Future Ramen Adventures Planned
Despite not securing his own black card during this visit, Choo remained enthusiastic about his ramen journey. He shared his plans to explore Hokkaido next, expressing particular interest in trying Sapporo ramen, which he noted has a distinctly different flavor profile from other regional varieties.
