Kim Jaejoong Shares Unconventional Strategy for Wealth Management
JYJ's Kim Jaejoong Reveals Unique Financial Philosophy
Kim Jaejoong of JYJ recently opened up about his distinctive approach to managing his considerable wealth during an episode of his YouTube channel JaeFriend. The November 13, 2025 upload, titled "Two Worlds That Should Never Meet (Reason: Energy Drain)," featured singer-songwriter Roy Kim as a guest.
The Eight-Year Reset Strategy
During their conversation, Jaejoong unveiled an unconventional financial practice he follows to maintain his motivation and drive. According to the artist, he intentionally zeros out his bank account balance every eight years—a strategy that might sound alarming but serves a specific psychological purpose.
"Every eight years, make the balance in your bank account zero. When you do that, your fighting spirit suddenly shoots up. It clears your mind to the point where you feel like you should run everywhere instead of walk," Jaejoong explained.
Strategic Investing, Not Actual Loss
Before fans panic about their favorite artist's financial decisions, Jaejoong clarified that this doesn't mean he's actually losing money. Instead, he transfers his savings into investments or less accessible accounts, effectively removing easy access to the funds while preserving and growing his wealth.
"The way everything I've saved becomes zero is by sending it somewhere that isn't my own account—it's investing. I make my main deposit-withdrawal account zero. You need the mindset to be able to empty yourself," he elaborated.
Roy Kim responded positively to this method, noting that it serves as an excellent reminder to stay grounded and remember one's roots regardless of financial success.
A Proven Track Record of Success
Kim Jaejoong's financial acumen is well-documented. He previously made headlines when he casually displayed a black card during a broadcast appearance—a prestigious credit card reportedly held by only the top 0.05% of VIP customers. His wealth stems from multiple sources, including his legendary career as a member of one of K-pop's most successful groups and his business ventures as a CEO.
This unique perspective on wealth management demonstrates that staying hungry and motivated requires more than just hard work—sometimes it demands deliberately creating the mindset of starting from scratch.
